What to expect at your appointment, rates and frequently asked questions

Book an Appointment, Fill out the Intake Form

Filling out the intake form helps set the stage for your appointment. It offers me the opportunity to reflect on how to structure your visit to ensure we make the best use of our time together. Some things that are included in the intake form are basic contact information, reason for your visit, relevant health/injury history and information needed for direct billing (when this option becomes available).

The Assessment

The initial assessment will start with the opportunity for you to share your unique story with me. Listening to and obtaining a comprehensive history about your primary concern will help me better understand you, your symptoms and your individualized goals. With your consent, an observational and hands on assessment will follow in order to determine the root cause of your primary concern, taking into account a holistic picture. If you are coming in for a Pelvic Health or Pre/Post Partum visit, this may include an internal vaginal and/or anal assessment. This will only be performed if you are comfortable and consent to it. Internal assessments are not always recommended and in fact a lot can be deduced without doing one!

Treatment/Follow-up Plan

Once the root cause of your symptoms has been determined, a personalized treatment plan will be developed. Treatment may include manual therapy, soft tissue massage, mobilizations, movement based therapies, postural advice, lifestyle modifications, dry needling treatments and/or ergonomic/bracing advice. My main goal is to empower you with as much knowledge as possible to make sure you leave feeling confident and supported in the plan moving forward.

  • Physiotherapy is considered to be primary access care meaning you do not need a doctor’s referral to access physiotherapy. There are a few insurance companies that do require a doctor’s note in order to cover a physiotherapy appointment - the best way to find this out would be to contact your extended health insurer and ask them about your specific plan.

  • We will be accepting direct billing soon. In the meantime I can provide a detailed receipt that you can submit to your extended health insurance provider for reimbursement.

  • I accept credit cards, e-transfer and cash payment.

  • Please wear something that is comfortable and easy to move in. Depending on which body part we are going to assess, having the area easily accessible may be helpful.

  • Absolutely. Although as with any treatment we will only progress as far as you are comfortable, the option of doing external treatments is always available and beneficial. Doing any internal assessments while on your period will still provide us with the same information.

  • Even if an internal assessment is determined to be beneficial, we would only do what is comfortable for you with full informed consent. There is lots that can be ascertained by doing external assessments and treatments.

  • Unfortunately at this time I do not accept WSBC claims. If you have an ICBC claim ongoing I can provide you with a detailed receipt that you can submit yourself to ICBC. I cannot direct bill ICBC at this time.
